The SAFEJOINT project combined its final Conference with the ICEAF IV, 4th International Conference of Engineering Against Failure held on 24-26 June 2015 – Skiathos island, Greece. The scope of the Conference was to attract interdisciplinary work dedicated to the design against and prevention of engineering failure. Presentations covered a number of different technological areas including Aeronautics, Construction, Automotive, Bioengineering, Recycling, etc.
SAFEJOINT had a dedicated session titled “Dissimilar material joining”, where the findings of the project were presented as well as the latest developments from around Europe and internationally, the progress and outcomes of the SAFEJOINT project and how the technologies developed are being exploited.
The papers being presented on Wednesday 24 June 2015 were:
16:00 – 16:20 – High cycle fatigue behaviour of structural adhesive joints
16:20 – 16:40 – Functionally graded bond-lines for metal/composite joints
16:40 – 17:00 – Mechanical performance of prefabricated hybrid joints
17:00 – 17:20 – NDT of dissimilar joints using ultrasonic and X-ray CT methods
17:20 -17:40 – Failure Mode and Strength of FRP/Steel Joints Bonded with MWCNT Epoxy Adhesive
17:40 – 18:00 – Development of piezoelectric strain sensors embedded in bonded dissimilar material joints
